Even when i go out looking for a perfect fitting pair of jeans, which i did get by the way, I just can't be stopped from spotting a good deal when it comes to wool. This latest addition to the stash was from pound stretchers, A huge big ball of mohair/wool mix in some of my favourite colours for only £6.99, how could I possibly say no?
I knew what was going to happen with this ball before I left the shop, yeah you guessed it, a hat. Ok, so this may seem like my 100th hat but I'd like you know this was the first hat that I knitted for myself.
A really easy pattern with a funny name, plenty of space to fit my noodle hair in without flattening it and it didn't take too long (3 days to be exact) for my mum to ask me to knit her one in cream, and her friend to order one for herself without even seeing it first.
Its just a shame you all have to keep looking at the side of my face when I let you see the pics of my creations, my mum isn't having any of it. (At least I sorted out the eyebrows this time)

Little Diamond - Hat
I was contacted by a lovely mother to be and she asked me to make up a baby collection. She was pretty sure that the baby was going to be a girl but last look at her scan and the docs were only 80% sure. This order is a little tricky, I've to make items that will look lovely on a girl but they have not to be pink as they may end up on a little boy. Now to put my thinking cap on and come up with some designs that will suit either a boy or girl perfectly but not look unisex regardless of the baby being a boy or girl. I'm excited by this so may be quite quiet for a few days.
Here is my first piece of work; a lovely lemon hat with a simple diamond sticth design and of course, a pommy.
This is a 3-6 months hat but i'll be working out the stitch count tonight to write the pattern in other sizes, hopefully preemie right up to 2 yrs.

Cupar - Hat to hide the bed head on the school run
Yes, i'm one of those crazy people who used to get up at the crack of dawn to spend anything up to an hour trying to get my curly locks to calm down and sit where I want them too. Only took 5 months of trying to do this until I figured out what all those nice slouchy hats are really for.......... an extra 40minutes in bed and the stressless throwing a hat on to cover the wayward locks. Not to mention, if i'm having a good hair day (let's not pretend this is often), then you can also leave your hair sticking out.
I love this hat, knittted using two starnds of soft, wool rich aran yarn, I'll never feel the cold again. The only other thing to mention - and i'm not sure if you'll find this a good or bad aspect, it does leave me somewhat deaf to other people, fine when your walking round the supermarket with a child shouting about cheese strings, cucumber and bananas.
Zeb - Hats to fit everyone
Ok, so despite some warnings, we were all pretty surprised to be hit with the huge amount of snow we faced in December, leaving many unable to get to the shops. Also, add the small fact that trying to get a hat on the highstreet to fit either my boys heads is not worth the stress. Trying to ram a hat aged 7-11 on a 3 yrs old head just because the lable says so, doesn't make for a happy mummy or son. Once we were all close to/ or already in tears, what was the point in going for a coffee and slice of cake to share, i'd probably have ended up wearing the lot.
So, to resolve on head sizing issues, I made Zeb. A fantastic striped hat (can also be knitted up in 1 colour), that is so easy for me to make the small changes needed to fit anyone from a preemie to a full fledged adult.

First came Sky and Fudge for the wee one......
And of course I had to make one for the big brother in Fudge and fern.
You can have this hat, in any 2 colours, with pom poms, tassles or nothing on the corners.

Little Leaves Matinee
Last addition for today, a gorgeous matinee set in white, its 0-3 months in size but I can make bigger too. I love knitting this set, quick and easy and with minimal amount of sewing and picking up stitches from here there and everywhere else.
The booties and hat are supposed to have ribbon ties to secure but with a wee wiggly head and pair of feet to match, i've found that braided cords work so much better.
Baby Hat - Button Me Up
So, after kntting such a cutie pie wee pair of booties, I wnated a pretty we hat to match.....
Millar wants total control over pom pom duty so i've ordered him a proper maker form ebay, only 65p and he can make the poms till the cows some home.
This is a set for a newborn but can convert the pattern right up to a 2yr old, so don't be afraid to ask.
Baby Booties - can't kick me off
These little booties are fantastic, I can knit them up quickly and in just about any colour, I'm so proud of the tight knitting and the folded over tops mean they can be looked at as cuite shoes or foled back up and are cosy long socks, I've also been told they are difficult for babies to kick off.
New day- new project
After making all sorts of crafty things for years and boring my facebook friends with daily pictures, I have now decided that I have too many folders with too many nice things to look at. The time has come for me to take the next step and use the little bit of extra daily time to myself to start blogging to keep everyone who just wants to know about knits, stitching and yummies I produce to keep up to date and of course, i'll be working eventually on online selling which should make it easier for us all to keep up to date with orders.
